About Philippa

Close-up portrait of Dr Philippa Lord.

I am a chartered counselling psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have a postgraduate diploma in applied psychology (PG Dip), a postgraduate certificate in low-intensity cognitive behavioural interventions (PG Cert), a master’s in affective disorders (MSc), and a doctorate in counselling psychology (PsychD).

I am trained in three therapeutic modalities: humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy. This allows me to work integratively, tailoring our work to suit your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

With 15 years’ experience across the NHS, private practice and charitable sectors, I have supported adults with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or feeling stuck in patterns you would like to change, we can work together at a pace that feels right for you.

Sometimes it can feel helpful to talk to someone before making a decision to see them. If that's the case, I'm very happy to do an introductory call to discuss what you would like to work on - reach out and we can arrange a time to talk.

“My aim is to create a warm and empathetic space where you feel heard, understood and supported.”
